Then/Than

I had not realized that people had trouble distinguishing between 'then' and 'than'. In the last week, I recall at least 3 times that I have seen someone write then when they mean than. The most surprising was actually on one of my favorite blogs, Kissing Disasters: "I liked the guy more then he liked me." Grrr. I get it that in speech sometimes we say than with an e sound probably because it just flows better but this is stuff we learn in 2nd grade, right? Please use proper grammar. I will judge you and think less of you if you don't.
